Snow coverage

February 19, 2014

I spoke with Dan Hoban, Middletown Country Club’s head professional, earlier this week and he addressed a reality that most clubs throughout the Delaware Valley — except for those at the Jersey Shore perhaps — currently face. The snow coverage has kept golf courses closed for quite some time. Middletown last opened for play on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The club’s only experienced seven playable days in 2014, according to Hoban.

“If I look out the window of the pro shop, I can’t see the 18th green because of the piles of snow we had to plow out of the parking lot. There is nowhere for the snow to go. It looks like the Himalayas out here.”

Perhaps an end to the snowy circumstances isn’t far off. This graphic indicates a significant amount of projected melting throughout the week.

Hopefully we will  see some green soon. Fingers crossed.
