Caution: final tournament approaching

October 27, 2017

Jeff Osberg and Michael McDermott represent one of the teams competing Monday.

The Golf Association of Philadelphia will administer its final tournament of 2017 on Monday, Oct. 30. Or shall I say tournaments. You see, the Association originally had Waynesborough Country Club on the schedule to host a U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Qualifier. However, because of an oversubscribed field, the Association added Rolling Green Golf Club as a second qualifying site. Thanks to Rolling Green for graciously volunteering its course to accomodate.

A boatload of frequent GAP players will join forces in hopes of gaining a spot in a national championship. Interested to see how those teams perform come Monday. Hard to believe the last act of the 2017 tournament season has arrived.

Also of note, the Communications department recently saw the fall edition of the Golf Association of Philadelphia Magazine hit newsstands everywhere. Well, not newsstands, or everywhere for that matter, but you get the point. The Philadelphia School as it pertains to golf course architecture is the cover topic. Highlights include a look at Manufacturers’ Iron Masters tradition, a special anniversary for Riverton Country Club and the farewell of the longest tenured pro in the Philadelphia Section. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to peruse the content.

Until next time here, you can fill your Communications void by following @GAofPhilly on Twitter for the latest.
